ABOUT CHICO

Chico's musical career began at the age of
seven. Music was a constant in Chico's
upbringing. His earliest musical experience was
in a rock 'n roll group performing Beatles' songs.
Later, while in the Navy, he organized his own
group playing in Rio de Janeiro and abroad.

In 1987, Chico formed the Boulder/Denver-based
Pau Brazil Band performing Brazilian music.
Endowed with a sensitive voice and perfect diction,
Chico sounds provocative and strongly rhythmic.
Chico's vocal talent, supported by a magnificent
trio and a varied repertoire representing the
best of MPB composers, are perfect ingredients
for a perfect recording.

Although "Samba Groove" is Chico's first CD with
the Aloisio Aguiar Trio, Chico has performed live
with the trio on several occasions, which attests
to the cohesion of the combo and the success of the
CD.
